The wearing
of the school uniform is strongly recommended and encouraged at St Helens.
The uniforms are hard wearing and practical in design and engender a sense
of identity and school spirit. To help others, donations of uniforms that
are no longer needed can be made to the school or second-hand uniforms can
be advertised for sale in the Newsletter. Students not wearing school uniform
are asked to go to the library during lunch breaks where they can play games
and read. We understand circumstances sometimes occur when students must be
out of uniform, and parents may provide a note excusing students. However,
if there is no note students must go to the library.
Shirt/Blouse: A redwood & navy shirt with St Helens in print is available
from the school. This is suitable for general day and sports use. Jumpers/Jackets
are to be navy blue.
Shorts/Skirts/Skorts: These should be navy blue in colour. Shorts are acceptable
for both boys and girls with the tailored style preferred for girls.
Skirts: This may be either pleated or wrap around style.
Parents are asked to ensure that the clothing children wear to school offers
protection from the sun, is suitable for the activities a school child may
perform and is appropriate to a place of learning. No street clothes or caps
allowed. Wide brim hats must be worn. Bucket hats with the school name embroidered
on front will be available from the school. Enclosed footwear must be worn.
Jewelry is to be kept to a minimum - no necklaces and only one pair of earrings
- studs or sleepers. Wrist watches are allowed. No raised dress rings are
to be worn.
Winter Uniform: The winter uniform is a navy blue tracksuit. Parents may access
these tracksuits from a number of local stores, including the school, at very
reasonable prices. Variations to navy blue are acceptable, however, it is
encouraged that students do not wear jeans.
